Sweat Club Barbell Basics

Have you been in SweatClub for a while and you’re interested in using the barbells? Concerned or intimidated because you don’t know what to do? Barbell Basics is here to teach you how to use the barbells for moves you’re already familiar with from SweatClub. This will allow for heavier weights to be used in your workouts and even more strength to be made!


Small Group Training

Each series of Barbell Basics starts and ends with a one-rep max session for the main barbell moves: Deadlift, back squat, bench press and overhead press, and bent row.

Over four weeks we’ll meet twice-weekly for an in-person, small-group training session. You’ll add the drills you learn to your workouts throughout the week. This is meant to supplement your SweatClub classes, not replace them.

Each session includes a dynamic warm-up, in-depth understanding of a specific barbell training move/skill, and a series of drills to help perfect the form of each movement.


4 weeks of sessions

You’ll meet twice weekly for four weeks to go over drills and form and practice the main barbell lifts:

  • Deadlift

  • Back squat

  • Bench Press

  • Overhead Press

  • Bent row

You can take what you learn in these sessions, and the drills and incorporate them into your SweatClub workouts throughout the week.


Gym Confidence

We are proud of our gym community, and often get feedback about how good it feels to workout in an environment that is women-mostly, fun, colorful, and intentionally pared down. At the end of Barbell Basics we hope you feel comfortable to use these tools to open up more options for your workouts - including the barbell workout path! It’s always great to have more options to choose from.


Our next cohort of Barbell Basics begins in January!

Registration is $195 and includes:

  • 4 weeks of in-person small-group training (8 total sessions)

  • BONUS! 4 weeks of in-person gentle yoga classes during your in-person SCB classes (up to 4 total)

  • 1 rep max workshop to help give you a starting point (first session)

  • Drills associated with each specific movement, filming form for feedback and a short workout of that day’s specific movement are included in each session.

  • Inclusion in our joyful, creative, silly community of folks at all levels of fitness — who love to chat about books, Taylor Swift, Tulsa happenings, celebrity gossip, crafting, tarot and more!
